A cable avoidance tool (CAT) detects buried electricity cables and metallic pipes so you can break ground safely. Paired with a signal generator, known as a Genny, it becomes a complete CAT and Genny scan kit, applying a traceable signal to buried services so they can be located, followed and marked before excavation begins. A CAT and Genny scan is standard practice under HSG47 guidance for avoiding dangerous and costly utility strikes.
